The best way to kill carpet beetles or anything living in your carpet is with hot steam! It's safe and won't harm pets or children and kills everything instantly. I had carpet beetles and didn't want to use harmful pesticides. The steam mop reaches 240 degrees and will kill everything. Since I did this, I have not seen any carpet beetles. You must move the furniture to get under the legs, wash curtains and throw rugs and put them in the dryer. Heat will kill them all. Clean out your closets and drawers on occasion and wash everything. Just being clean and regular vacuuming will ensure keeping the bugs in your carpet at bay. They also sell sticky traps specifically for these types of bugs too. You can place them under the furniture where pets and children can't get at them. Hot steam is the way to go. I would never use pesticide with children and pets around.
