you don't want to boil the water because that will take out other nutrients needed for a thriveing tank

also a start out chemical made by a company called jungle is START RIGHT that will take out the chlorine the same company also makes a CORRECT PH that will level out your pH perfect

you can get those chemicals through either your local Walmart or an online company called drfosterandsmiths.com

Most cities don't use chlorine anymore, they use chloramine. It's made by reacting chlorine and ammonia. It won't boil off--and boiling the water WOULD drive off the oxygen the fish will breathe. The dechlorinator I use is made by Tetra.

Boiling water does not remove chlorine. If you are trying to remove chlorine from your hair, i recommend Swimmers Shampoo. (Ultra Swim)

Some but not all. If you want to wash ALL of it out, I recommend using soap and water, if it is for a pool then pool cleaner, most of them are $10 or less at walmart, target,(etc.)

Boiling water does remove the chlorine from it. However it takes a long boil to remove absolutely all of it.

no chlorine cannot evaporate because its a chemical

Yes, chlorine CAN evaporate. For example, if in a pool, chlorine will evaporate but a lot of factors are involved such as humidity, air flow and temperature.

No.

Distillation alone cannot remove chlorine, pesticides and herbicides. The boiling points of most synthetic chemicals, including pesticides, herbicides, and chlorine solutions are lower than the boiling point of water therefore there is a chance that the chlorine can travel with the water through the condenser coil and into the distillate. Synthetic chemicals are the major contaminants remaining after municipal treatment. Distillation alone does not remove these harmful chemicals.

My chemistry professor said that chlorine does react with water.

One reaction :

chlorine + water <==> chlorous acid

Cl2 + H2O <==> HOCl + HCl

There are other reactions that happen too.

Hence, use of chlorine is controversial.

Is boiling water good? I am not so sure.

chlorine is in pools, i don't think that you see the chlorine. it just looks like water, so im guessing that it does.
