No, they are useless for treating heartworms. This is somethig your vet must treat, it cannot be done with home remedies.
Normally when it is too late to treat. A dog will not usually show symptoms of being infected with heartworms until the number of heartworms becomes very large in the heart. Therefore the chances of treatment working is not as good as too many heartworms in the heart to clog the heart valves as they die off due to treatment. This is the reason to have your dog checked first for heartworms then put on once a month treatment to prevent the H/W. Also your Veterinarian should test your dog once a year for H/W just to be on the safe side. Symptoms of a severe case of heartworms include coughing, tired all the time, color is not good, bluish at times, etc.
Collies, also known as the shetlen sheep dog, have very good amune systems. The worst recorded sickness for the are heartworms and all dogs get those. They are a skitish breed so the eat drt alot which is the cause of worms.
Heartworms are parasitic worms that live in dogs. They have a complicated life cycle which includes one stage of development in the gut of mosquitoes, then a larval stage in the skin and capillaries of dogs, then an adult stage in the pulmonary veins of a dog. These parasites were given the name "heartworms" because they swim against the current of blood flow in the major lung blood vessels, and when a dog with heartworms dies the worms end up swimming back into the right side of the heart where they are found on post-mortem necropsies. The good news is, there are quite effective heartworm preventatives on the market currently, in both a monthly oral tablet as well as a monthly topical spot-on liquid. The bad news is, once a mature heartworm infestation is present in your dog, the treatment is dangerous, expensive and in some cases lethal to the dog.

Heartgaurd is just heartworm prevention. To prevent fleas you need a different product. Advantage, Frontline, or Comfortis to name a few. If your looking for a flea and heartworm in one, Sentinal is a good choice. Heart Guard
some garlic cloves and cilantro
I have done this before, and found that whole cloves vary in size. Some cloves can be twice the size of their companions; so, this is not easy to answer. Does your recipe require that you grind the cloves? If so, then you should grind enough to occupy 2 teaspoons. I realize fresh spices are a good practice to follow, but cloves are a strong spice; and, I have found that my guests generally can't distinguish cloves from an unopened bottle of ground cloves versus the fresh-ground originals.
