Something is weird here!
No company can collect on one check twice.
If a Cr Card company somehow made an operational mistake like this - maybe the electronic type, first - the funds essentially are in your credit card it collected for - (so little harm) - second - they would likely correct it immeadiatley upon seeing 2 withdrawals were made on one draft authorization.
No check can be honored twice.
A bank that honors a previously used check should be liable. (However, as a check is kept by the bank that cashes it, how did the presenting party still have it to present again?)
SS funds can't be seized/garnished. However, once deposited in an account, they become indistinguishable to other funds.
When your name appears on a checking account as maker you are accepting liability for overdrafts made on that account which could impact your credit score. My thoughts are that it is an issue about liability. Also the bank wants to be certain that in the event that the account is overdrawn, they are able to collect against you by having your signature on the contract.
Court
Companies who extend credit to individuals or other companies set aside an account that is called allowance for doubtful accounts. This account can be based on the amount of sales or the amount of accounts receivables. In determining the amount of the account managers review the previous history to make adjustments. If someone does not pay, after so much time it is written off into this accounts. Sometimes the bad account is sold to another collection agency in attempt to collect.
No you cannot.
The account is considered an uncollectible account. The account must be adjusted so that the business can balance its books.
Many checking accounts do not offer interest on the money in your savings account. This is a disadvantage because the money you put in a savings account will collect interest, where a checking account will not.
Was that debt including in bankruptcy.

If a Payday Loan company hires a collection agency to collect on your account they can send your account to an attorney to collect the amount of the loan and any NSF fees that you have accumulated. However, it is stated at the bottom of your contract that if you close your checking account that the loan is made from, that you can be charged with fraud.
Companies that collect debts for other companies. They generally get a set % of what they collect.

No, to collect social security disability you must not be able to work any job in the national economy.
If you have 40 or more quarters that you have paid into Social Security--you are eligible for Medicare AND can collect a PORTION of your SS. There is an offset because of your teacher pension.
It depends on many factors. I worked for the unemployment office and if you tell them you are receiving money from social security, they will put your file on hold and go through adjudication, which can take up to 6 weeks. They do not have the capabilities of checking to see if you are on social security, so the best policy is to not say anything... =)
