Can they? Yes!! Should they? Probably not!! Advil (ibuprofen) causes reduced blood flow to the kidneys and is nephrotoxic. Diabetics most often are taking an ACE-Inhibitor (Lisinopril/Quinapril/Monopril) to protect the kidneys. Some doctors will ok it based on your creatinine clearance results which show how your kidneys are functioning. Generally speaking ibuprofen should not be taken with out consulting your doctor.

A diabetic will need to be careful of any medication they take. Make sure you ask your doctor before taking Aleve.
