Can doctors be off by 7 weeks on due date?
It is unlikely that they would be that far off. They're often off by a couple of days or weeks, but not usually 1 1/2 months off. I strongly suggest that you speak to your doctor about it for more information.
Often doctors calculate a due date based off of your best guess of when the last period was and an estimation after a ultra-sound where they measure the baby(s). A typical pregnancy is 40 weeks but anything after 38 weeks is considered full term. Read More

If your due date from your period differs from your ultrasound due date does that mean high risk of miscarriage?
No, it does not mean that you are in high risk of a misscarriage. The Doctor will normally give a due date with an ultrasound but with a variable of 2 weeks before or after the due date. No worries! Thank you! I also did some other research, and i guess since I just came off the pill, that could have thrown off my ovulation for that month, which could throw off my due date. Read More

While predicting a woman's due date is always a bit of a guessing game (after all, baby's don't work on the same schedule we do) medical people have a formula for calculating the date based on the first day of the woman's last period. If a baby seems to be bigger or smaller than expected during prenatal checkups, the health care provider can perform an ultrasound to more accurately calculate gestational age. It's normal for… Read More

Your last period was on the fifteenth of march 2006 and the scan said my due date was the third of January 2007 why is this?
You are normally pregnant for 9 months and 3 weeks. The doctors can also be off by 2 weeks. Were you trying to get pregnant? Some women have implantaion bleeding around the time of there period in early pregnancy (light pink or brown spotting) and unless they are trying to get pregnant, don't think anything of it except that it is lighter this month. Congratulations on the pregnancy! Read More
It depends on when your U/S was done. I had an U/S to date my last pregnancy, because I was not having periods due to birth control. My baby was small for gestational age and so the U/S showed him due later than he actually was. BY over 3 weeks. An ultrasound done before 12 weeks is accurate to within 2 or 3 days. After that it becomes less and less accurate as your pregnancy… Read More
doctors are rarely 100% accurate on the date that a baby is actually conceived. however, the methods they use to calculate a conception date is never off by more than 2 weeks either way. the earlier a blood test or sonogram is done, the more accurate it will be, usually within a few days. Read More

You are 13wks and 5days pregnant according to your last period but 11 weeks and 2 days pregnant according to your ultrasound but do you take off 2weeks from the ultrasound date you were told on 1st de?
You should be given an Estimated Date of Delivery (EDD) from both your last period AND the ultrsound, and they should match. If the ultrsound date is 2 weeks later than the period date it may be that you ovulated late in that cycle. The due dates for my pregnancies changed several times or more during the nine months. I'd follow the latest due date and you'll be so happy at the end if he/she… Read More

Dear Reader; One's first inclination is to go the calendar and count off nine months. (Good thought) Doesn't work that way. (Yes it does) Gestation occures in lunar months (no it doesn't) that is 9 times a 28 day month so you would start from one end or the other and count off that many days and see where that lands on the calendar. Ordinarily the due date is determined by first determining the date… Read More

At this point in time, there is no way anyone can tell the exact date of conception. Even if there was only one sexual encounter, it could take days before actual impregnation. Sperm can live in a woman's body for about a week. Because of this, doctors go off of the start date of the woman's last period when referring to gestational age. So if a woman is considered 5 weeks pregnant on March 7… Read More
your dates could be off and not really be as far as you think. the same thing happened to me with my son. i thought i was 13 weeks and ended up only being 8 weeks. i would ask to get an ultrasound done just to make sure the baby is ok and to find out your actual due date. hope that helps. Read More
If an ultrasound showed you were 7 weeks and 5 days pregnant can you count back to see when you conceived?
Yes, though conception can occur at irregular times during a cycle. Typically, two weeks into your cycle you are able to conceive. Your due date is calculated based on the date your last period ended (because it is impossible to determine precise conception dates), therefore a woman at 7 weeks 5 days conceived approximately 5 weeks 5 days ago. Fetal measurements can also be off for your specific child, though. Read More
Ultrasounds measure the size of the fetus to predict a due date and are usually very accurate, within two weeks, so I would safely assume that it would not be off by five weeks. You can ask your doctor, it won't be the first time he or she has answered that question,I promise. Also it depends on when the U/S is. U/S before 12 weeks of pregnancy are very accurate, plus or minus 2 weeks… Read More

Yes it can be off, they usually are within about 2 weeks of the due date, it is just a round about date that they give, but usually they just tell you when they think the baby is processing too. So maybe when they do the one at 20 weeks, they will let ya know if it has changed....Good Luck Darlin!! :) To elaborate on the previous response a little more...when the doctor or technician… Read More

Can your scan be out as scan show 20 weeks but think it is wrong 20 weeks ago I already had missed a period had morning sickness had already tested pregnant how could I conceive that week?
Techniques such as ultrasound monitoring and measurement can most definitely be off by a much as several weeks. However, when you are informed that you are 20 weeks pregnant, this count begins on the date your last period ended. As there is no way to pinpoint precise times of conception, the 40-week pregnancy includes an average of two weeks prior to conception (you ovulate around halfway through your cycle and could conceive then, but the… Read More
