most people think dogs only see in black and white. this isn't true. they can see some colors, but not in the same way a human can. they can't distinguish between yellow, orange, green, and red, but they're good (better than humans) at telling apart shades of blues and purples. so yes, they can see colors, just not the same way you and i can.

No, dogs are colorblind.

Edit: They are colorblind in the sense we think of it. But they can distinguish different colors as they perceive them. Dogs aren't people and no one knows with certainty what dogs understand from the ocular neurotransmitters in their eyes. I've trained (over 30+ years) dogs to bring the red or green folder (most common color blindness). Something allows them to separate what we think are just shades of grey to how we would define colors. Some can and some can't.

Yes they can. Dogs can see in limited colour, with the most perceived colours being yellow, blue, and shades of grey.

The colors green, yellow and orange will look yellowish to a dog, and violet and blue appear as blue to a dog. Something we see as blue-green will appear gray to a dog.

Dogs are not completely color blind since they have a dichromatic color perception. Unlike humans who have three different color sensitive cone cells in their retina (red, greenand blue) dogs have only two (yellow and blue). This does not mean that dogs can't see green or red objects!
