Sure.
It is legal to do so, but not the norm. If they think that little of you why would you work there? Did they say you were fired when you called in sick? The only way we would fire someone that was gone would be if they didn't even bother to call in. No one that cared at all about there job or considered their employers as humans would do that.

∙ 10y agoive done that once when i wanted to quit in a fast way so i just didnt show up and boom thats that get your check sent to you in the mail just obviously cant use them again as a reference

The employer is not restricted to firing for good reason. Employers can lawfully fire for bad reasons or no reason.
