Can i use Honda transmission fluid in Subaru?
I have been using Honda manual transmission fluid in my Subaru Impreza 2.5i manual gearbox. Been using it for the past 3 years and 70000km without ill effects. Shifts a lot smoother. I began by mixing 50/50 of Honda and 75w90. Now I've been using 100% Honda MTL. No weird noises, no grinding, no extra filing on the magnetic drain plug.
Use only genuine Honda ATF-Z1 transmission fluid. Do not use any other fluid no matter what anyone tells you is a substitute. There is no substitute for this fluid and the use of any other fluid will cause your Honda transmission to not shift properly. If you have a manual transmission, contact a Honda dealer for the correct lube or read your owners manual.
Only if they use genuine Honda transmission fluid. Most of the time they don't. They use generic Dexron fluid because it's cheap. Then they add a bottle of friction modifier to match the friction characteristics of Honda. Honda has a special transmission fluid and if you don't use it, you can void your warranty. So you can have Jiffy do it if you want to buy your own fluid.
There is absolutely only one transmission fluid you should ever use in a Honda and that is genuine Honda ATF. Do not put anything else in your Honda or you will experience shifting problems. Do not let anyone tell you that there is a substitute or that you can use a universal fluid. Honda fluid is very special and you would be very foolish to use anything else. You may be able to purchase it…
