Yes, it's bad to use tampons when you've not had your period.

Tampons absorb vaginal moisture needed to protect vaginal tissues from damage, tampon use always causes ulceration in the vaginal walls which is not only uncomfortable but allows bacterial toxins responsible for Toxic shock syndrome (TSS) direct access to the bloodstream. Without sufficient menstrual flow, or in this case without menstrual flow at all, the damage caused to vaginal tissues may be greater and thus the risks of TSS are considerably higher.

There's no need to use tampons when not menstruating.

Tampons should only be used while actively on your period. They should be removed every 4-6 hours and NEVER left in for more than 8 hours. This is because the folds of a tampon help house bacteria that is naturally found in our bodies. After 8 hours, those bacteria begin to reproduce quickly. This can lead to toxic shock syndrome, which is very serious. Furthermore, inserting a tampon when you are not on your period can lead to yeast infections and throw off your natural body chemistry in that region.

It is not bad to put a tampon in before you start your period just to be safe when it does start.

However, do not keep a tampon in for longer than 6 hours to reduce the risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome.

No, you should not practice using tampons when not menstruating.

Tampons dry-out vaginal tissues causing tearing in the vaginal walls, this is not only uncomfortable but puts you at risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) by giving bacterial toxins direct access to the bloodstream - tampons should only ever be used during menstruation, even then only with full flow. You shouldn't use tampons until you've had your period at least a few months so that you know your flow pattern well enough to know what absorbency to use safely to reduce TSS risk.

Do not use tampons when not menstruating.

Tampons should only be used when menstruating, specifically during full flow - do not use before menstruation, with spotting, or even with light flow. Tampons absorb vaginal moisture as well as blood thus drying out vaginal tissues which causes damage to the vaginal walls, this is not only uncomfortable but increases risks of Toxic Shock Syndrome. If you think your period is due then use liners or pads, you can also use menstrual cups and softcups before menstruation.

No, you can't.

There is absolutely no reason to use tampons when not menstruating, given as they are used to absorb menstrual flow. Tampons can only be used during menstruation - this is because tampons absorb vaginal moisture causing vaginal dryness and ulceration as a result, with no blood tampons will have more of a drying effect on the vaginal tissues which causes ulceration in the walls of the vagina. This is not just uncomfortable but the ulceration gives TSST-1 toxins responsible for toxic shock syndrome a more direct route into the bloodstream so higher risk of toxic shock syndrome.

Even when a woman starts menstruating it's recommended she wait at least six cycles before trying tampons so she knows her flow pattern well enough to know what absorbency tampons to use when in order to reduce risk of toxic shock syndrome. Ideally pre-teens and teens shouldn't use tampons, it's best to start with pads and if you want to move on to internal options to consider safer options like menstrual cups.

No - never use tampons when not menstruating.

It's also recommended that pre-teens and teens don't use tampons, even if you're mature enough to understand all the risks and follow precautions to reduce risks, younger women are at far higher risk of TSS and the younger you start using tampons the longer you're exposed to dioxin. At very least you should wait six cycles before using tampons, so you know your flow pattern well enough to know what absorbency to use and when you can use tampons.

It's best to start with pads, and if you want to use internal menstrual products use menstrual cups or softcups which are far safer than tampons and perfectly okay to use in your pre-teens or teens and when not menstruating.

Yes, using a tampon before you get your period can hurt and can be dangerous.

Tampons should never be worn when not menstruating, even when you get your period they shouldn't be used at certain times such as with light flow or spotting. Tampons absorb vaginal moisture so dry-out vaginal tissues, this causes small tears in the vaginal walls which can be painful but which also allow bacteria and bacterial toxins into the bloodstream so risking TSS.

I suppose you can, but perhaps you should allow your mom to explain things to you.
