Eye and skin irritation. There is an added risk that you are damaging the pool equipment and plaster. If you have a pool heater then you are stripping copper out of the heat exchanger inside the heater. This could prove to be very costly. How much do pool heaters cost these days? Your pH should be no lower than 7.2 and no higher than 7.8. Ideal is 7.5. That is very close to that of the human body.
Ken
Your chlorine consumption will be greatly increased.
Yes. Your eyes have a pH of 7.5 and so does baby shampoo. Doesn't hurt when you get it in your eyes right?
ph in pool to low said not to use baking soda what to use
You can still get in the pool. The chemicals work best when the pH is balanced so add PH PLUS. If the PH is really low it is very acidic and could burn the eyes a bit
make sure chlorine is is at 1-3ppm, if pH is very low raise chlorine slightly higer than average. shock the pool after and run filter for over night. If pool still not stabilize then add PH high chemical.
Actually there is such thing as a pH wrinkle, its caused from low PH.
Potash
There are no shortcuts. Get your Alkalinity right, then the PH. If the PH is "bouncing," your choline will spike high and low until you get the PH right. The PH will not be right until the alkalinity is right. If all that is right, you are low on stabilizer.
That Acid is called Muriatic Acid. You put it in your swimming pool to lower the PH of the water. At lower PH Levels, the chlorine you use to sanitize the pool is more active, as a disinfectant. You MUST be careful not to put too MUCH Muriatic Acid in your pool! PH that is too low will create potentially deadly fumes, so test your water. Low pH is corrosive to plaster and metal pool parst.
If the pool is too acidic, pH is low, add soda ash (sodium carbonate). If it is too alkaline, pH is high, add muriatic acid.
Do you have a chlorine generator? No.
The proper pH level is around 7.4 to 7.6 If the pH is reading, 8 to 14 that would mean the pool has a high pH level. But if you have a low ph reading then your chlorine will dissipate quickly. To keep the swimmers in your pool comfortable and to keep your pool equipment in good shape, it is vital that the ph reading is balanced.
You would be safest using Baquacil pH Increaser, which is a high purity, highly active dry alkaline product used to raise pool pH. In non-Baquacil pool water, both Soda Ash and Hydrochloric acid are used to raise pH levels. Pool shops are a good place to seek advice also.
Add chlorine and stabilizer.
