Yes, however once you see the pregnant mother beginning to build a nest, I would eaither remove the soon to be mother or the guinea pigs that the soon to be mother is living with. That way you will be sure to have some babies.

i always put another sow with a pregnant sow the over sow will be like a midwife. as long as the other sow is older it should be ok!

Answer

I didn't know my guinea pig was pregnant, and she was housed with another female. There were no problems, but as soon as the babies are born you are going to want to move the mother and babies to a separate cage.

Answer

Not a good idea, the unpregnant female will most likely eat the babies!!

Answer

I have also kept two females together until she gave birth, then I moved the other guinea out. However, my guinea pig gave birth at night and no harm came to the offspring, I reckon they were all together for at least six hours before I could separate them.

I would keep them apart becasue they might fight.

Answer

if the two sows are familiar with each other and are housed together normally it is perfectly acceptable to leave them together. i have done this many times in the past without issue, guinea pigs are not generally cannibalistic unless they are under immense stress, which is unlikely in a normal home environment

the only thing i had to do was remove the pups when they were weaned as mum had had enough of them & started pushing them around!

Answer

no never the other would hurt them because they get jelous better safe than sorry

Answer

i breed g/pigs and the sows are all in together an they are fine the only time they will kill is if they know that he pup is sick and will not live and they will abandn it. they should be fine together the other one will help with the birth. it also depens on the nature of you other g/pig and how friendly it is to the other one. but i have had no probles one of mine is a bully and will just kick out at the babys toget away from her but she has never hurt them, she is just tellin them who is boss.

Answer

i use to have several g-pig together and the breeding females never had a problem, but they had a 2 by 2m enclosure although they shared a sleeping house. the problem is the males, the two oldest male use to fight over the females but they never caused any harm to oneanouther

Probably not.

Because if one mother has her babies first then she could attack the still pregnant mother if they were to close together.

Also the still pregnant mother could try to take the babies because she is jealous that she hasn't had her babies yet.

So its not really a good idea.

My friend kept her male and female piggys together when the female was pregnant, and it seemed fine. If they're getting along, you can probably keep them together, if they're having problems, separate them. However, remove the male as soon as the female has the babies.

Not unless you want baby guinea pigs haha! I myself have two female guinea pigs that live together and was wanting to obtain a male guinea pig a few months ago as well, I checked with a few different pet stores and they said it is a really bad idea since guinea pigs can have a litter with up to 10 pups in it, and unless you can keep all the pups every time your guinea pigs breed you will most likely have a hard time finding a home for them, so overall I wouldn't suggest it but you can keep the male in a different cage and under supervision by yourself let them play together to watch and make sure they do not breed.

No, only a male guinea pig can get a guinea pig pregnant.

However, it is not uncommon for Guinea pigs to be incorrectly sexed. When they are young and their genitals are tiny and not yet fully developed, it is pretty easy to mistake a female for a male or vice versa. It is thus not uncommon for an alleged same sex pair of guinea pigs to produce a litter, but of course this only happens because the pair is in fact not a same sex pair.

Another common reason for same sex Guinea pigs to produce offspring is their fertility. Guinea pigs can become pregnant at a very young age, and it is not uncommon for the young siblings to be separated into gender groups too late. So, while the same-sex pair of Guinea pigs may in fact be a genuine pair of females, late separation from their brothers or father could mean that they are pregnant already.

No,because he can cause stress to your pregnant Guinea pig. Also,he could make her pregnant again as soon as she give birth and this can even cause death among Guinea pigs.
