To gain a sole parental responsibility they need to do the best they can to do their job as one instead of with someone else to help you along.
Children should be able to visit a parent in prison as long as the parent did not do an offense against the child. It should also be up to the child if they want to see their parent in prison.

The child can ask, however they have no right to make that choice. As for having a prison record, that does not necessarily make a bad parent.
In most US states, child agencies take away parental rights for parents that are convicted felons serving prison sentences. They may have their parental rights restored provided their children have not been adopted. Each state treats this situation differently depending upon various circumstances that may be involved. People wishing to regain their parental rights and persons adopting children whose parents have treated them harshly all find that attorneys are needed to unravel the state laws and policies that govern these situations.
Your parents will be in prison. It is a crime to not go to school so that's why the parents go to prison.
Think about this: Can the parent bring the child along to the Missouri Prison system to be raised by her? Probably not. Someone else has to have custody of the child while the mother is incarcerated. Probably, being incarcerated does NOT mean that the mother loses all parental rights. That's another matter, and usually takes some time to arrange.
