Can you join the marines with asthma?

Unfortunately no. Asthama is a bar to commisioning and enlistment in the military. While there are asthmatics in the military, it's because they managed to get through the process without getting caught. You can be a contract nurse TO the military with this but cannot serve due to the incredible health risk incurred.

The standards for enlisting with a history of Asthma have changed (2004).

An enlistee will only be disqualified if they have had asthma after the age of thirteen. A medical screening may still be required but a signed statement attached to the medical pre-screening form stating the applicant hasn't had any history of asthma after their thirteenth birthday will be acceptable. Applicants who have a more recent history of asthma may still be considered after additional testing and depending on the severity.

If you have had asthma in the past you should go ahead and check anyway if you wish to join the military.

Why not, that is basically decided upon the severity of asthma which is the frequency of attacks and seriousness on each time. For those who have controlled asthma, and the work field doesn't provoke the attacks can be a soldier. Besides, his emergency medications ( Inhaled Salbutamol and Ipratropium ) are available just in case. However, each case is decided by the supervising doctor.

No... It's an automatic disqualification if you have asthma or your dependent on any medicine
