No. Combustion is where something burns. Rusting is an example of oxidisation. ------------------ Yes, rusting is an example of slow combustion. And yes it is an oxidation reaction too, as Combustion is an oxidation reaction with an evolution of heat and/or light. In rudting there is: 1. Relase of energy. 2. Oxidation Hence, rusting is considered an oxidation reaction.

rusting of iron is a oxidation process. in this iron gets oxidised n is rusted out.(actually combustion and rusting both are oxidation, just that the rate of oxidation varies in like burning of gasoline or alcohol and rusting of iron)

Combustion is rapid combination of a substance with oxygen with evolution of heat. But rusting dosenot takeplace with direct combination with oxygen ( it is an electrochemical process in which iron its impurities and surrounding ions forms a electrochemical cell and inside it fe3o4 forms as ultimate product) it cant be told as cobustion

Can the process of rusting be called combustion?

No; it is not combustion because in combustion substance react with oxygen first but in rusting the substance react with hydrogen first

Is iron rust physical change or chemical change?

The process of iron rusting is a chemical change.

Is rusting and combustion is same?

rusting or "corrosion" is a process where a metal is introduced to moisture. thus the metal will get rusty... combustion is a process. the combustion process is the result of fuel (of some sort) is introduced to a ignition source. i.e. take a gallon of gasoline, and within a close proximity light a match (*BOOM*) thus is combustion. the answer to your question is no, rusting and combustion are two different and entirety separate processes. these are extremely simple examples to answer your question. there are many different examples. but these are how I'd explain them to my young son, so they may be easy to understand. hope that helps, cheers. e.

Is there any difference between rusting and combustion since both involve oxidation?

Differences:RUSTING :Rusting is a slow process.Little heat is released. Both air and moisture are necessary for rusting.COMBUSTION:Burning is fast oxidation.large amounts of heat are released.Only air is necessary for combustion. In other words, Rusting is much slower than combustion, and rusting in the strictest sense can occur only with iron or its alloys.

What chemical weathering process is caused by oxygen and water acting on iron?

The process is called rusting.

Rusting of iron is a slow type of combustion?

Rusting is an oxydation but not a combustion.

Why rusting of iron considered as a combustion process?

Because it's the "burning" of iron in oxygen. It's just slow.

Process of rusting is same as combustion?

Rusting is similar to combustion in that oxygen is a required reactant. However, classic combustion has carbon dioxide and water as products, whereas rusting simply has a metal oxide as a product.

Difference between rusting and combustion?

What are the differences between rusting and respiration?

rusting is a process in which iron oxide is formed on iron in the presence of oxygen and water. respiration includes the burning or combustion of food for the release of energy with the presence of oxygen or without oxygen.

When rusting of iron take plce?

When Iron became in contact with water and oxygen or other strong oxidants or acids the rusting took place. The rusting is an electrochemical process which started with the transfer of electrons form iron to oxygen. If salt is present then it also accelerate the rusting process.

slow

What elements undergoes rusting?

Most of the metals will oxidize, but the only one for which that process is called "rusting" is iron.
