YES! ask your doctor about the new drug called lyrica it might and might not help but its worth a shot. I'm only 20 yrs old and had a L5 S1 fusion about 3 weeks ago and my left leg hurt SOOOO bad all the time.

find a pain management doctor that does spinal injectionsand he can give you a epidural injection which on the nervewhich will make the pain go away. it helped me for about 3 weeks and then it came back and i had another one and it helped again. but that's not the reason for my spinal fusion i had a lot more wrong with my lower back than just my disc having my sciatica nerve pinched

Some sources of sciatica are not preventable, such as disk degeneration, back strain due to pregnancy, or accidental falls. Other sources of back strain, such as poor posture, overexertion, being overweight, or wearing high heels, can be corrected

Depending on the nature of the pain and the injury, sometimes yes!

Personal experience: I hurt my back when I was 30, MANY years ago. About 15 years ago, I started treatment with a different chiropractor. Before one of the treatments, he noticed me pulling my wallet, my checkbook, and a notepad out of my hip pocket while preparing to lay down on the table. The chiropractor said "What are you doing sitting on all that stuff?! Don't carry anything in your hip pockets. You're hurting yourself more every time you sit down!"

So I put everything in my briefcase, and never carried my wallet in my hip pocket again. After about 4 months, the sciatica pain started to decrease, and 3 months after that, it was essentially gone.

So, sometimes chiropractors can "cure" pain, by removing the cause of the pain. Every pain is different, and every person is different, so this may not work for you - but it might. If one chiropractor isn't helping you to feel any better, pick a different one.

Yes. With relief of pressure on the Sciatic nerve, it should go away. A visit to a Chiropractor can cost less than $40 and usually is all that is needed for this condition.

Initial treatment for sciatica focuses on pain relief. For acute or very painful flare-ups, bed rest is advised for up to a week in conjunction with medication for the pain.
