Non-endemic, native. A spreading coastal tree growing to 30 feet. Common, growing wild or as a part of hedges. It has large round waxy leaves turning reddish before they fall. Berries ripen from October to December. Edible, made into jams and preserves. Some people clip them to look like a hedge. Cochineal Cactus. In the Cactaceae or cactus family.
