Here's how you can tell a Pokemon is fake: Lets just say for example you have completed the pokedex you can see each Pokemon's picture in the pokedex if you see a Pokemon that isn't on that list in the wild or in a battle then it's fake. Also another meaning to fake Pokemon are Pokemon captured using cheats you can tell there fake because they will have incredible stats and should have the Pokemon virus called pokerus also it shouldn't mention where the Pokemon was captured unless they cheated to reach the area where they catch it.
