Can taking antibiotics affect an psa reading?

I am a medical assistant at a Urology Clinic and what our physicians recommend is that a patient be off of their antibiotics for one week prior to having a PSA drawn. If you have prostatitis then you should take an antibiotic for three weeks to rid the inflammation, then be off of the antibiotic for one week and then have your PSA drawn. This is JUST what our physicians recommend... ALWAYS consult your primary care physician or your urologist first!
