A doe can get pregnant at 3 months. They BOTH need to be spayed and neutered first and they need to be bonded or they will fight and possibly one or the other or both can be injured badly or killed.

yes if you want them to have babys

CHARLA-

yes i agree with the person above me. but the buck (male) MUST be the first in the cage for about a day BEFORE you put the doe (female) in. the buck needs time to mark his land. or else the doe will KILL the buck because does are super protective of her cage unless the buck has claimed it as his.

Hi Im coming into this conversation , I have two rabbits around 6 months now and they were in the same cage at the same time since then and they get along fine.

angeline-

I have a question. can you have had a male rabbit in the cage for 2-3 years and then put a female in? JUST ANSWER IF YOU KNOW PLEASE!

Rabbits of different ages often do get along and "bond" to each other, but that doesn't mean all of them definitely will. Whether or not two rabbits get along depends on hormones and individual personality.

Rabbits generally shouldn't be put in a cage together unless they're bonded to each other. Rabbits who actually dislike each other should never be put in a cage together or left together unsupervised -- fighting can have serious (even deadly) consequences.

If you're thinking of bonding a couple of rabbits to each other, do some research first because some methods are better than others. (See the links below to start with.)

Before two rabbits are introduced, they should both be spayed/neutered. Rabbits that aren't spayed/neutered are more aggressive and territorial, and when they meet each other they either tend to fight, or breed.

Once the rabbits are spayed and neutered, they can be introduced and you can try to bond them; before that time, they must be kept apart or else they will mate. Rabbits mature as early as 3-4 months for small breeds, 4-6 months for large breeds, and some types are able to breed as early as 12 weeks -- so, once they've been weaned from the mother, does and bucks should be separated.

Otherwise, if you are in fact trying to breed your rabbits, it's best to wait until they are at least six months old to make sure they are sexually mature enough to breed successfully and safely. Before breeding your rabbits, consider all the bunnies waiting in shelters to be adopted -- does the world really need more rabbits?

That depends on whether you are trying for babies or not. If yes, you are breeding your rabbits, you generally only need to put a buck in with a receptive doe for as little as 24 hours. This will allow ample time for several breeding attempts.

If not, you are trying to avoid babies, it's best if you keep adult males and females completely separate. This should happen pretty much as soon as they are weaned from the mother at approximately eight weeks old, as some breeds of rabbits can reproduce as early l2 weeks.

Most of those who know rabbits would tell a rabbit owner never to do this. I think they can if their brothers. But don't do it if their not.

It doent take long if she is in estrus. Maybe 5-10 minutes.

Watch them, when he falls off (he may give a high pitched squeal) remove the doe from the bucks cage.

Word of advice, NEVER put two boy hamsters in the same cage. Just putting two in separate cages next to each other can be dangerous.

Yes, that's why you never leave two rabbits in the same cage.

What will happen if two rabbits are in the same cage?

Not a good idea. They will tolerate their mates pretty well for awhile but are very territorial and will fight with strange rabbits, especially males. Males and females should be separated form each other by 3 months and by 4 months EVERYONE should have their own cage. The males should probably have their own cage at 3 months to prevent fighting.

Can you buy a 1 year old bunny rabbit that is friendly to other bunny rabbits the same age?

You can pair up pet rabbits. It is best not to have two males in the same cage. Either get two females, or a male and a female. Having the rabbits spayed and neutered will increase the chances that they will get along. Keep a close eye on them for the first several days, and introduce them slowly.

Every rabbit should have it's own cage after it reaches the age of 4 months. They will start fighting at this age and also are old enough to start breeding and have babies.
