Technically vegetarians do not eat the flesh of other animals and brownies do not contain animal flesh, so they are considered vegetarians. However, most commercial brownies contain butter and eggs. Many vegetarians do not consider dairy to be a healthy food group. As no other animal drinks another animals milk, or drinks milk past childhood, it would appear that cow or goat milk would not be an ideal food for a human adult. Fresh fruits and vegetables are significantly more nutrient dense than brownies. Also, nutritional research shows a link between consumption of animal protein and cancer and correlations between meat consumption and obesity and cardiovascular disease. While some vegetarians may indulge in brownies, those more health conscious would not consider brownies to be a regular part of a health plant based diet.

Rarely to never. For one, brownies contain a lot of sugar and sugar is addictive and contains no nutritional value. A brownie from Boston Market Restaurant contains over 500 calories and 26 grams of fat. You would have to walk more than two hours to burn off these calories. Also, although brownies can be made vegan (without dairy), most commercial brownies contain butter and eggs. So if you eat to live, rather than live to eat, you would choose most of your calories from nutrient dense foods that are easy to digest and do not come will ill side-effects that research shows is links to consumption of animal protein. Perhaps the occasional vegan brownie but most times, a pineapple, banana, or a handful of dates will treat your senses and your body.

Vegans can eat brownies that are made without eggs or dairy milk. Oil or any vegan egg substitute can be used in place of the eggs, and soy or almond milk can be used as liquid.
