When you post a question in the "Enter a question here..." box at the top of the page, it can be seen by anyone browsing the WikiAnswers. So the question is not private. Your identity is relatively private if you have created a username that is not so close to your real name that people who know you could figure out the connection.
If you want to ask a question of one individual who has an account here, go to the person's profile page and place a message.
WikiAnswers does not have private messaging because it is not meant to be a social networking site. Since it is meant for questions and answers, anything pertaining to that should be able to be done publicly on the message boards. Email services can be used to communicate privately.
No, WikiAnswers does not have a text messaging service.
Wikianswers does not divulge private or personal information, such as telephone numbers or addresses, for individuals. This includes instant messaging addresses.
Phone numbers are private and WikiAnswers does not give out peoples private information.
We do not currently have a private messaging system that would enable you to contact other contributors privately, but we do have personal discussion boards. Sign-in and click on the "message board" link in your toolbar. For more, see http://wiki.answers.com/Q/WikiFAQs:Message_Boards

ChaCha requires a cell phone and operates through text messaging. WikiAnswers has no requirement other than an internet connection. ChaCha has paid employees who answer questions. WikiAnswers has a community of people who volunteer their time and expertise. ChaCha costs money to ask questions (text messaging rate, at least.) WikiAnswers is completely free. ChaCha questions are private, only seen by you and the operator who answers them. WikiAnswers questions and answers are public, so that anyone can see them and provide answers.
