Honestly I believe that great writers can find a way to start a sentence anyway they please, but in most cases I would avoid starting a sentence with 'being as though' for the several reason. But I believe the one that you care the most about is that it simply does not sound right. Teachers today (Im gonna assume that this is for school) often time take off points for sentences that do not flow right or sound right even if the sentence is grammartically correct (there are so many grammar rules and some teachers who dont know them will take off points. I had one teacher in high school that was from Pakistan that knew basic grammar but if you tried to be fancy and included commas she would take off points.....but i digress). I would stick to 'As a result....', 'Thus...'. and maybe even "Due to this...' instead.
