Put two teaspoons (more or less) of loose black tea in coffee filter in basket. Put basket back on hook of swinging hinge. Slide basket back into position. Slide the "strength control" on basket to the right for the slowest drip/strongest tea. Fill tea pot with water. Remove tea pot ceramic lid from tea maker top if necessary. Pour water from the pot into the top of the tea maker. Place pot's ceramic lid over water entry on top of tea maker. Place pot without lid beneath basket. Plug tea maker in if necessary.
