There are breeders who sell domesticated foxes around the world. There are several in the UK, and LOTS in the US. If you want to buy a pet fox, make sure the breeder is USDA licensed and do a ton of research. Foxes don't make good pets for everyone, but if you do your research and know what you're getting into, they can be great and loving companions. Just be sure that you have patience :)
As for price, red-type foxes go for anything from $300-$550. If you're paying more than that for a red-type fox, you're probably getting ripped off.

Is it a good idea to buy a domesticated fox for a pet as long as its smell and digging can be handled?

It is okay as long as you are sure it is a domesticated fox and
not just a wild one that has been "tamed". A domesticated fox is
one that was bred in captivity from a long line (at least 4 or 5
generations) of foxes bred for pet like qualities. And be sure to
get it neutered. You will have a lot less grief - just like with a
dog or cat.

Can a fox be domesticated?

Yes, a fox can be domesticated. Scientists have proved that you
can domesticate a fox. The result of 60 years of experiments in
Russia, they successfully domesticated the silver fox. Which is a
silver morph of a red fox. Not only has the fox been more tamer, it
is also more dog-like as well. It will droop its ears like a dog
and way tail when happy. It has also made more dog like barks.

Can you keep an Arctic fox as a pet?

No, the Arctic Fox is a wild animal and shouldn't be kept as
pets.
Of course the question is "can you" not "should you."
Actually, yes, you can keep an arctic fox as a pet. It is
completely legal in the US to buy a domesticated fox cub from a
breeder and take it into your home. Whether or not your state
allows it is another story.
