Most liquor and grocery stores will require identification in order to purchase alcohol products. If your ID shows your birthdate as being one day before your 21st (or whatever the legal age is in your region), you will be denied the purchase.
The law is the law ... just because you are 1 day away from the legal age does not warrant any special privileges.
