∙ 12y agoAssuming that you will be crossing Interstate 10 as your most direct route of travel - all states through which you would pass (LA-MS-AL-FL) all grant reciprocity to holders of Texas concealed carry permits.
To actually transport the handgun, you're not required to have a CCW. You must, however, transport it in the manner in accordance with the laws of each state you'll be traveling through. Keeping it unloaded and secured in the trunk of your car is the guaranteed way for you to be legally compliant. Otherwise, I'd recommend you e-mail the state police of each state you'll be traveling through as to what their laws are for transporting a handgun by a non-CCW holder. Print their replies and carry them with you. Follow the instructions you receive to the letter.
