Yes. After spending 15 hours in the garden (collectively) your chao will reincarnate (if treated well). It will return to egg form and rehatch into a child chao, so that you can start over. It will retain 10% of its stats from its previous life.
Also feed it the fruits from the dark garden and give it at least a few dark fruits from the market even before or after it is/turns back to a child chao.

when it's 'mating season' in one of the gardens, a chao will get flowers around it... then, either the nxt chao that walks by OR a chao you put nxt to it will like get married to it then they hop away and leave an egg. sometimes they are incapable of marring like a jewel chao and a normal chao... BABIES CANNOT EITHER. try it with a chaos choa and i guess u'll see.. no special tricks
