You can, but alcohol is likely to impair the T4 to T3 conversion process which is essential in gaining any benefit from this medicine. Research on alcoholics showed that T4 was more likely to convert to rT3 (the inactive form of the hormone) than T3, but when they stopped drinking alcohol, over 60% more of the T4 converted properly.

i was seeking an answer to a similar question about being on synthroid & see that your question has gotten no response. so, i thought i`d write to give you "some kind of" answer for your question. granted, most of which you`ll probably already thought of/about! from the answers i`ve gotten from here about being on/taking synthroid & alcohol consumption, the majority say it`s o.k. to drink/consume alcohol while taking synthroid. BUT no one here i`ve seen commenting/answering in this "category" so far is a DR. so one synthroid taker to another(knowing it`s importance! ;) ) along with the fact you`re also having to take the blood thinner,... just for your own safety/health i`d say you should ask your DR.! if you`re not comfortable asking your DR. directly...?... try ....answers.com or justask.com ..?..it`s a website where you can ask SERIOUS questions & get real solid medical answers/advice! sux but does cost/not free! :( hope this helps you some!!! take care of you!!! sincerely, synthroid too ;)'
