You can drive a diesel engine, or any other type, blowing any colour smoke you wish. Though it is pretty foolish to smoke

If it's an older Cummins (any 5.9L model), the cheapest way is to just cut the muffler off up to the engine and run a straight pipe clear out the back. NO! Don't attempt it. Don't run diesel in your gas engine and don't run gas in your diesel engine! It will cause your engine to run improperly with loss of power and lots of white or blue smoke. It will clog your engine and if you run it with the wrong fuel too long, will result in complete engine failure.
is this a diesel truck? does this engine have a turbo? if it is a diesel with a turbo,it will blow white smoke when cold till it warms up if it continues to blow smoke check your air filter other reason if it continues to blow smoke is the turbo is about to crater get it checked also check engine oil for coolant loss if coolant is leaking into cylanders,this will cause white smoke
