As long as the engine will run (some won't) it is possible to drive it.
ButMost bad senders leak oil and will ruin the engineSome systems will not provide power to the fuel pump when the sender is bad.
Old old trucks will run
If that is all that is wrong and you know 100% that the sending unit is bad, then my advice is to replace it. It is a cheap fix and if you do not replace it you have no idea what your actual oil pressure is. This could cause you to drive around with no oil pressure which would destroy your engine. Just replace it and then you can rest easy.
Low oil pressure, or the oil pressure sending unit is defective. If the oil level is full, then the oil pump is weak or the sending unit is bad. Replace the oil pressure sending unit and see if that solves the problem. If not, seek professional help. Do not continue to drive the car in this condition.
the oil pressure drops when i turn on the a/c is this because of a bad oil sending unit?

If you checked the pressure with the sending unit in the car, it is possible the sending unit itself may be bad!
bad sending unit, or bad regulator.
Yes, if the oil pressure sending unit is bad the oil light may come on.
The oil pressure sending unit could be bad. Or the oil pressure gauge could be bad, but normally gauges don't fail............I would have someone check out the oil pressure sending unit.
the oil pressure sending unit is designed to warn you of a low oil pressure. If the sensor goes bad then the low pressure light or gauge will read low when the oil pressure is actually ok.
Your oil pressure sending unit is bad or the oil pump is bad. I would check the sending unit first
Bad Oil sending unit.
Yes it could.
