Yes, because the date you are looking at is probably not really an 'expiration', but is more likely a 'best by' date. You should remember, though, that food won't even make it to the suggested date if it is abused or stored improperly.

As far as I know, when it is "Out of Date" the chocolate ...Blooms. Turns white. If that happens just reheat to bring the butter fat (the White) back into the chocolate. There is a specific temperature though so be careful not to boil

not sure if it expires... but if you keep milk or any other kind of Dark Chocolate around for an extended period of time it turns white and stuff and tastes horrible.

It depends on how much preseravtive is added. Most chocolates will expire by 6 months (un-preserved) to 2 years (preserved) after initial packaging.
