Can you eat cooked pork left out overnight?
What you are really asking is, "Is cooked pork left out overnight safe to eat". There are several possible answers:
- Maybe. If the place where the pork was sitting was as cold as a refrigerator and no rats, mice, cockroaches, flies (nor anything else) contaminated it, then it would likely be safe to eat if it was safe to eat before it was left out.
- No. The meat was kept in the temperature danger zone for too long and pathogens are all over the meat and will make you sick.
- We don't know. Without laboratory tests, no one can tell you whether or not the meat has become unsafe, but a food safety person would not risk allowing anyone to consume it.
The food safety time/temperature rules are designed to take the guesswork out of making and serving safe food.
