Well, it all depends on what ingredients you have in the sour cream. This is because some ingredients keep better than others. My own personal opinion is that you should throw it out. But my dad's opinion would be: you can eat it until it gets moldy. Its your choice, but it would probably be best to throw it out

∙ 15y agoThe sour cream that I have purchased do not have an 'expiration' date. Instead, they have a 'best if used by' date or 'sell by' date. The food is not inedible the next day. I have opened sour cream even a month beyond its 'sell by' and have found it quite good and usable. But the shelf life is dependent upon many conditions, including the quality of the sour cream to begin with and storage and handling during distribution and by the consumer. Any mold or discoloration would mean that it should be discarded.
