Methadone blocks the effects of Oxycontin and other opiates.
Why are you on Methadone and Oxycontin in the first place? And how much of each? Then you will have a more accurate answer than the above.
Well I might not be around to get your answer to my question so here it is:
Methadone is NOT an antagonist acting substance nor even a partial antagonist like SUBUXONE (buprenorphine). Methadone is used as replacement therapy for opiate addicts. It is typically more manageable and longer acting than other opiates.
If you are on both at the same time then you are feeling both of their effects and may have a higher tolerance now (which if you are not on methadone for opiate replacement, then you should talk to your doctor because you are on a quick and horrific road of opiate abuse if this is the case). If you were on Methadone and then switched to Oxycontin, it may be the case that your methadone dosage was stronger than the Oxycontin dosage you took and therefore you now have a higher tolerance.

∙ 11y agoYes, but this would be very stupid and pointless. ONE, Oxycontin has a much shorter half life than methadone so you would need more of it. TWO, Oxycontin is much more expensive than methadone. THREE, why would you take something that gets you even higher than the substance you are trying to get off of??? If you want to get off methadone it's simple (in method only). You taper off of it slowly like they do at methadone clinics. Methadone lasts much longer and is much cheaper than Oxycontin, therefore it is a better option for getting off opiates all together, that is why Drug clinics offer methadone and NOT Oxycontin. This question made me laugh. Thanks LOL

∙ 12y agoIm only speaking from experience, depending on how much methadone you take regularly, you should wait 48-72 hours before taking morphine after taking your last dose of methadone

How do you use Oxycontin to withdrawal from methadone?
You Don't. You are simply trading one opiate for another. Also, that would be incredibly pointless. There is a reason Drug programs offer METHADONE to get off of opiates and NOT oxycontin. That reason is simple, 1. Methadone lasts much longer than OxyContin and has much less euphoric effects, which helps people function better. 2, Methadone is MUCH cheaper than OxyContin and much more accessible, like at clinics. It makes absolutely no sense to take something even more powerful than the substance you are trying to withdrawal from (meaning OxyContin is much stronger in its euphoric effect). The best thing to do to withdrawal from methadone would be to taper off slowly like they do it at methadone clinics. But if you are switching drugs for pain management (going from methadone to Oxycontin), you will not really experience withdrawal symptoms. You will just feel slightly uncomfortable at first as your body makes the adjustment.
What are the side effect if you mix Oxycontin and Marijauna?
you cant feel your face. but that's only if you took the 85mg oxys and it also depends on how good the marijauna is.
What is a good amount of methadone for a first time user to ingest to feel an effect from the methadone?
From experience, I was given 30 mg's when I first went to the clinic and really felt it. Most people say 20 mg's is a good starting dose. Before this, I had a 80 mg a day OxyContin habit. Be very careful when starting Methadone as it is VERY dangerous at first. If you take 20 mg and do not feel it, do not take more that day, wait until the next day before increasing your dosage, as Methadone has a very long half-life and is still in your system even if you don't feel it. Many OD's occur from this.

Lots of option for breakthrough pain. Methadone is used as a long acting time released narcotic. Pain management clinics will depending on the the patient and the condition often offer a shorter acting pain relief narcotic for break through. Examples could include, norco, vicodin, Oxycontin, dilaudid, morphine in various strengths depending on the dosage of methadone and how many tabs a day are being taken. Also depending on the dosage of Methadone the strength may be increased or shorther period between doses could be an option. All depends on how long a person has be taking Methadone and what the break through pain level are on a scale of 1-10. Hope this helps. I feel your pain.
Why do you still feel withdrawals on suboxone when you stopped taking methadone 10 days ago?
Your doctor probably weaned you off the Methadone too fast before switching you over to Suboxone. Methadone takes a LONG time to withdrawal from. I would definitely tell your doctor that you're still feeling withdrawals from the Methadone so he can help you. Hope you feel better.
