City Folk is a Wii title, released in 2008. While New Leaf is remeniscent of City Folk albeit with newer features, characters and models, it's entirely compatible with the 3DS. The key difference is that you're mayor in New Leaf, whereas you were only a town resident in City Folk. Additionally, the City has been replaced with Main Street, a small store segment found north of your town, beyond the railway crossing.

∙ 14y agoNo, it does not. There is an Animal Crossing for the DS, though, called Animal Crossing: Wild World. This is the second Animal Crossing game in the history of the series.
