Sprint has a 4g network that is multiple times faster than the competition 3g networks, in addition to the equivalent of 3g coverage where 4g is not available. Coverage for 4g is not universal and only a small part of the country, mostly in cities, will have 4g coverage.
When comparing the coverage maps for both Verizon and Sprint, it appears that Sprint covers more of the United States than Verizon, and therefore would be a better option if you are looking for coverage. Also, when comparing Verion's 4G data coverage to that of Sprint, Sprint also comes out on top, and therefore Sprint would be the better option.

It is no secret that 4G mobile phones can provide you with some of the best services that are available right now. If you buy one, it may be the best phone that you have ever owned. However, you should not do this without checking the coverage map first. After all, you need to have good coverage if you are going to be able to take advantage of everything that the phone can do. If the coverage is poor in your area, you will just be paying a lot of money for a phone that will not be able to perform.
As with all Sprint phones, the Epic is CDMA
Not sprint, who still has very limited 4g coverage wherever I go. For last 3 years they have told me they will have 4g coverage in the next 6 months repeatedly. I've been sprint customer for 15 years. That stops today as I am now receiving texts much later than send date, and my phone is going directly to voicemail despite apparent coverage. I've heard AtT and verizon are better here, but I'm deciding which of htose to use myself.
3G coverage on a cell phone is the internet that your phone runs off of. Almost all cell phones offer 3G coverage. But nowadays, most smart phones now have 4G coverage.
I believe that you should get the Evo 4G by HTC. They have improved very good. I reccommend the HC Evo 4G for you. ONLY WITH SPRINT
Sprint is expected to offer 4G in Q4 of 2011 to Q1 of 2012. Update: Sprint currently offers 4G in Lexington, Ky.
When you go from a 4G coverage area to a 3G area with HTC Inspire 4G, the phone will automatically try to switch to the 3G network. However, sometimes the 3G coverage in this transition can be of a really low signal. What you need to do is reboot your phone to fully refresh its 3G coverage. This is how you can get 4 bars or more in your 3G signal. It's a small price to pay especially if you live in a 4G area, considering how fast its download and upload speeds are. With this small tip, you can get better 3G coverage on your HTC Inspire 4G.
