People who are using drugs this way are usually not interested in participating in long term studies of the effects of the drug abuse, and those doing this kind of study are not very interested in using these unreliable subjects in tests, either. To be sure of a study's results, all factors involved must be considered and cataloged. It is next to impossible to get an accurate history from a junkie. Who knows what is in the compound that is being injected? It is a good bet to say the user doesn't. Street drugs are not tested for ingredients and are not made in controlled environments.
We know that in some forms of cancer there does seem to be a relationship between repetitive irritation or inflammation of a body part and later development of cancer. Injection of any foreign substance into your veins, even using proper equipment and technique and sterile compounds, irritates the veins and several vital organs. Besides cancer, you are risking blocked blood vessels and heart attacks (now or 30 years from now) from the build up of results of irritation and chemicals in the veins and arteries...and probably hundreds of other problems.

∙ 13y agoNo one knows for sure, but it seems like cancer can be caused by anything these days. Blood transfusion with needles like shooting drugs is a more likely cause than simply having a puff of the magic dragon, which in fact is used to treat the side effects of cancer treatments.
