Once you have had chicken pox you are immune from this virus for life however you may catch a variation of your particular chicken pox virus but I am unsure how common that occurance would be, you would have to be very unlucky. You may develop shingles later in life depending on your age, health etc, If you are sick and rundown you are more likely to develop shingles. A painful blistering spread along the nerve endings (for example on you lower back). If those blisters open up and another person comes into contact with them it is possible to infect that person with Chicken Pox as it is still the one and same virus.

You are not likely to get chickenpox if you had them before, but the virus stays in your body for life, and may be reactivated in the future to cause shingles. Between 20 and 30% of patients who had chickenpox get shingles later in life.

A person that has had the disease is normally immune as his/hers immunesystem would kill it off very fast. That person will not spread it further by sneezing or coughing.

It is however possible for an immune person to spread it to others by close contact. Say if somebody sneezes him/her in the face and he/her gives somebody an affectionate kiss soon afterwards.

This is however not the common way of transferring the disease, but it can happen.

Yes, there are strains of chicken pox (varicella virus) that are slightly different. You can be infected and be a carrier and never know it - symptoms are (usually) very mild. About 1 in 100,000 people will show severe symptoms (scabs, etc.) when they get chicken pox for the second time.

In addition, someone who has already had chickenpox can spread the virus although not in the manner that you might think. The disease of shingles is caused by the same virus that causes chicken pox. When a person catches chickenpox, the virus remains in his system ready to erupt in a different manner at a future date. An adult with shingles spreads the chickenpox virus. If a parent had chickenpox, he or she will develop shingles at some point and give chickenpox to the children.

You are unlikely to get chickenpox if you had shingles in the past. Shingles is evidence of prior infection with chickenpox, and an episode of chickenpox typically provides lifelong immunity. If you had shingles, you have, by definition, already had chickenpox.

Everyone who had chickenpox harbors the varicella zoster virus in their nervous system. But shingles is not contagious unless the virus is reactivated.

Can you get shingles from lying in a bed after someone else who had shingles say in a hospital?

Shingles is caused by the chickenpox virus. You do not get shingles from someone with shingles; you get chickenpox from someone with shingles. Then when you get older, you will get shingles because you had chickenpox. Or, you might get older and never get chickenpox. In that case, you will thank your mother for having you vaccinated against chickenpox when you were a child.

Where in the world do you find chickenpox and shingles?

Chickenpox and shingles are found throughout the world.

Can shingles or chickenpox be transferred by a third party?

Shingles and chickenpox can only be transferred by someone who is infected.

Is it possible to get chickenpox from some one who has shingles when you have only had shingles at a young age and not chickenpox?

First, you can't get shingles at any age unless you have previously had chickenpox. Although your chickenpox illness may have been so mild that you didn't notice, a diagnosis of shingles is proof that you had chickenpox. Second, only those who have never had chickenpox can get chickenpox from shingles. Third, shingles is only contagious through direct contact with wet lesions, and is not likely to be spread through casual contact.

You have idiopathic urticaria can you get shingles from someone with chickenpox?

You can't get shingles from someone with chickenpox, whatever your other medical conditions. You only get shingles from reactivation of your own prior infection with chickenpox virus.

Can you get shingles from someone if you have had chickenpox?

No, it is not.

Can you catch shingles from other children who have shingles?

No. While you can catch chickenpox, shingles comes from a virus already within you (chickenpox virus) so you can only have shingles if you have previously had chickenpox. I myself had shingles back when I was in the fourth grade but neither my brother nor my sister ever had it.

If you are vaccinated against chickenpox can you still get shingles?

No, there is no reason to get chickenpox vaccine if you've had shingles. You should talk with your health care provider about shingles vaccine.

Are shingles catchy?

No. You can however catch chickenpox from the shingles if you've never had them before. The shingles themselves come from a dormant chickenpox virus in your skin tissue.

Is there a shingles titer?

You appear to be confused about the nature of shingles. A positive varicella titer shows that you have had chickenpox in the past, or that you have had the vaccine for chickenpox. You can't get shingles unless you've had chickenpox. If you have had chickenpox, a positive varicella titer is not protective against shingles, and you may need the vaccine. Discuss with your health care provider whether shingles vaccine makes sense for you.

Can chickenpox vaccine prevent shingles by cryosurgery?

Those who have had chickenpox vaccine have a lower risk of shingles, but you can talk with your health care provider about getting shingles vaccine. I have no idea what cryosurgery has to do with shingles.
