Sure you can. There are numerous strains of HPV. The Gardasil will help with 4 of them. Even if you know that you're currently infected with one of the 4 strains in the Gardasil vaccine, it can still help you with the other 3.

No. The HPV vaccine Gardasil does not contain HPV virus or DNA from the HPV virus. The HPV vaccine can not cause HPV infection, genital warts, cellular changes or cancer.

The vaccine contain virus like particles (VLP). The immune system makes antibodies towards these VLP and the same antibodies can later on destroy real HPV. Gardasil gives protection against HPV type 16 and 18 which are the two most important strains of HPV. HPV 16 and 18 are the cause of more than 70 percent of cervical cancer.
