Married in New York at 17After checking the statutes in ny it does not appear that you can. I know you probably want only legal advice, but as someone who was pregnant at 16 and married, experience in life has taught me... let your parents know, they may freak out, but they will quickly get over it. Explain to them what you want, and if they still will not allow you to marry, shortly after your baby is born, you will be of legal age to marry. FYI, my father did sign for me to marry. (My father and mother were divorced.)

Even though having a child is a life changing event it does not automatically make you a adult. I believe in New York like most states without a parents consent you must be 18 years of age. Check with the Marriage License Department of your county court house and they can give you all the correct information on this matter.

Yes. Emancipation means that you are considered an adult in the eyes of the law. Give the license office a call and see what documents you may have to provide to get the license issued. There shouldn't be a problem.

No. A person aged 16 or 17 needs the written consent of both parents or of their legal guardian(s). This is true even if said person is emancipated from their parents.

No. You must be at least 18 to get married without parental consent even if you are pregnant. Some places might allow marriage with a court order, but they don't often grant them unless the parents are no longer living.

Can a pregnant 17 year old girl get married without parental consent?

Most parents will consent to marriage if their daughter is pregnant. If this is not the case however you will have to wait until you have you baby. When you have your baby you are automatically emancipated and are considered an adult and then you can get married without consent. You are only medicly emancipated, your parents still have legal control over that. You would have to get a judge to overturn your parents desision which is hard to do.
