Dry socket can heal on its own, but there are many negative impacts it may have: It takes much longer, the pain persists, it could become even more infected, it is likely that it will not heal properly. Going to the doctor is the best thing to do because they know what they are doing and they can disinfect it and make sure it will heal the way it is supposed to.

Place a wet room temperature tea bag on top of the area where the tooth was extracted for an hr or so until the tea bag gets annoying try this 3 times a day. Take Advil or Motrin if your able to take that med, do not use Tylenol this is for headaches. This will help the swelling to go down around the area of the socket... do not use straws, smoke or spit.......Aunt Laura

No. See your dentist. The hole needs to be cleaned and filled with a disolving paste. Only time will heal a dry socket, 2 or 3 weeks. The hole heals from the bottom and sides, slowly.

Clove essential oil is a great solution for dry socket. It can help relieve the pain and discomfort. Clove oil is used in toothpastes and by dentists and is 100% natural. You can apply it by putting clove oil on a q-tip or cotton ball. Then apply the cotton to the dry socket, putting it in place for several moments. What is a natural remedy for dry socket?

There's not much you can do at home to remedy a dry socket. Dentists and oral surgeons need to repack the socket with a medicated dressing that helps with the pain and infection, but it doesn't speed up the healing process much. They need to heal on their own. So see your dentist if you have a dry socket or suspect one due to extreme pain.... if you must wait, rinse your mouth gently with salt water to keep the area clean and try not to focus on the pain.
