Why would aspirin prevent seizures? Get your dog to the vet... Actually, aspirin does have some anti-seizure effect. See, e.g., Aspirin modulates the anticonvulsant effect of diazepam and sodium valproate in pentylenetetrazole and maximal electroshock induced seizures in mice. Srivastava AK, Gupta YK. Neuropharmacology Laboratory, Department of Pharmacology, All India Institute Of Medical Sciences, New Delhi-110 029. Evaluation of antiepileptic activity of aspirin in combination with newer antiepileptic lamotrigine in mice. Tandon M, Anuradha K, Pandhi P. Department of Pharmacology, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh-160012, India. What isn't in these two articles is information of a practical nature for canine epilepsy. Run it by your vet, but I would not be surprised if it might be of some benefit.

At the end of the day, the rule of thumb to follow is simple: Never give your dog aspirin, other NSAIDs, acetaminophen, or medication of any kind unless directed to do so by your veterinarian. When aspirin is given under the guidance of a veterinarian and given in the proper dosage, it's safe.

Yes you can give a dog aspirin..BUT.. be careful not to use human aspirin as this tends to be stronger and can be extremely toxic to dog's. I'd check with your vet first, aspirin can upset the stomach, not all antbiotics will agree with pets, if your vet gave you the amoxicillin did they mention to give aspirin also? Aspirin not recommended by your vet can be fatal to your dog. Never ever give aspirin made for human consumption to your dogs.

Can you break open a capsule of zonisamide and give to dog in something?

Has this drug been prescribed for your dog by a veterinarian? If so, how did he tell you to use it? I would call the vet and ask for instructions on how to give it to your pet. If it was NOT prescribed by a vet, and is for human use for seizures, then DO NOT give it to your dog. Take your dog to a vet if it is having seizures.

Can you give a dog aspriin?

Yes, but check with your veterinarian first to determine how much to give, or if aspirin is appropriate. Do not give your dog aspirin meant for humans. Specially prepared aspirin for dogs is available in pet stores. Coated aspirin may be acceptable, but check with your vet first. Your vet may also be able to prescribe other painkillers that are more effective for dogs. Do not give aspirin to your dog if it is taking any sort of n-said medication. See your vet for details.

Can a dog take baby aspirin with phenobarbital?

No Never give Advil to a dog or cat. It is dangerous. You need to check with your Veterinarian as to why you wish to give Advil to your pet that is already taking pheno. Buffered aspirin is the only safe thing to give to your pet but again you need to check with your Vet before giving any aspirin.

Can you give your dog Bufferin?

No - Bufferin is buffered aspirin and can be fatal to dogs.

Is it OK to give your dog 0.4 ml of aspirin?

Yes, yes it is. How much aspirin a dog can have depends on it's size and weight! If you are doubt about how much aspirin to give your dog, call your vet's office and ask them. Regular strength buffered or baby aspirins should be used, not "safety coated" aspirin. Always give aspirin with food, to help avoid an upset stomach. If the dog starts to vomit, stop giving it aspirin. Aspirin has blood thinning properties, so it can be dangerous in some dogs. For long term pain relief there are safer veterinary-specific alternatives.

Can you give a 30 pound dog an aspirin for foot pain?

No - dogs should never be given human pain medications (Tylenol, aspirin, Advil, Aleve, Motrin, ibuprofen, etc.). Dogs are very sensitive to the side effects, which can be fatal. If you believe your dog would benefit from pain medication, you will need to make an appointment with your veterinarian for an examination. There are safe pain medications available for dogs, but you need a veterinary prescription to get them.
