You can physically give blood while having mononucleosis, however during normal blood screening procedure your blood would be rejected. Mononucleosis is due to the Epstein Bar Virus which infects B cells in your blood. Therefore it can be transmitted through blood transfusion and blood infected with mononucleosis is rejected by blood banks.

Yes. FDA guideline allow recipients of blood components to become volunteer blood donors 1 year after receiving blood components, depending on the potential donor health and underlying reason for the transfusion.

FDA.gov

AABB.org
Current FDA guidelines require a one year deferral after receiving any blood component transfusion. A transfusion recipient may be indefinitely deferred from volunteer blood donation if the transfusion was performed in a country currently listed by the CDC/FDA as at risk for variant CJD (mad cow disease).
Current FDA guidelines require a one year deferral from volunteer blood donation following transfusion of blood components, depending on the health of the potential donor and the reason a transfusion was required. Transfusions in certain countries, i.e. Great Britain, France, certain Africian countries, is an indefinite deferral. Most collection facilities around the world follow similar restrictions.

That depends on your blood type.

O Rhesus negative is a universal blood donor - they can donate to everyone regardless of blood type.

AB Rhesus positive can only donate to other AB Rh Pos people.

There are two different ways of classifying blood type - through ABO typing, and through Rhesus factor.

We'll take the Rhesus factor first:

If you are Rhesus negative, you do not have the rhesus factor in your blood.

If you are Rhesus positive, you do.

A person without Rhesus in their blood cannot take blood with Rhesus in it, as their body will see it as an intruder and try to fight it off.

However, a person with Rhesus in their blood can take blood whether it has Rhesus in it or not.

So, Rh Negative can donate to Neg and Pos, but Rh Pos can only donate to Pos.

ABO:

The O blood type is basically blood which does not have A or B components in it.

As with Rhesus, you cannot give someone blood with A or B in it if they don't already have that in their blood, as their body will try to fight it off.

So, O can donate to O, A, B or AB, but can only accept O

A can donate to A or AB, but not to B or O

B can donate to B or AB, but not to A or O

AB can only donate to AB.

Add these two factors together, and you find that O Rh Neg is a universal donor- they can donate regardless of blood type.

O Rh Pos can donate to O, A, B or AB, but only if they ar Rh Pos.

A Rh Neg can donate to A or AB, whether Rh Neg or Pos.

A Rh Pos can donate to A or AB, if they are also Rh Pos.

B Rh Neg can donate to B or AB, Rh Neg and Pos.

B Rh Pos can donate to B or AB, Rh Pos only

AB Rh Neg can donate to AB only, but both Rh Neg and Pos

AB Rh Pos can only donate to someone with the same blood type: AB Rh Pos

I hope this makes sense
