i am a junior this year and you do not have to take any ap classes to get a 3.8 GPA you just have to get good grades in the regular classes.

all A's and 1 B in regular classes get you a 3.8

Colleges will not look at weighted grades, any AP classes will be rated back down to a 4.0 scale, so ap classes only help class rank. Even if you did a 4.0 GPA in all classes for two years, you would have less than a cululative 3.5 GPA when graduating.

Depending what year you are? Keep in mind the GPA is not the only factor in the college admissions process. On top of that the classes that you have taken are the most important versus the GPA.

I believe you would need around a 4.0 your junior year to make your cumulative 3.5

You can take classes some easy A classes at a community college as those are weighted more than high school courses when determining the GPA.
