Yes there is absolutely no problem with grounding two wires to one bolt. Just make sure they both ground wires and one isn't a power wire, you will end up blowing a fuse if you do.

How do you get the battery light to stay off with a new battery and tested good alternator on a 96 Grand AM?

I'd guess that your car has a poor ground somewhere. Most cars come with poor grounds from the factory, and they get considerably worse as the car ages. I usually pick up a new terminal from a parts store(the kind that clams the wires in), along with at least 2 ground straps (the kind that have the holes to put a bolt through on both ends) of 4 gage or preferably larger wire. Cut the terminal off the existing ground wire and clamp it to the new terminal. Run the bolts from the clamp on the new terminal through the holes on the 2 new ground wires and run one of the wires to the engine. I usually try to connect it to the head. Just find a larger bolt, take it out, put the bolt through the other end of the wire, and reinstall the bolt. For the second ground wire, i usually run it to a strut mount bolt, anywhere on a structural metal piece would be fine though. Also I recommend cleaning all contact points to the bare metal, and using dielectrode grease to prevent corrosion. This description is good for any car. It should cost under $20 and will make your car run better, smoother, and more fuel efficient. The older the car, the more impact it will have, but it will help even brand new cars.

You have two white wires and two black wires which one is the ground?

black wire is hot wire .And the white is the common or white is ground. Depends on what your talking about in an outlet or car battery. In a outlet the ground wire is green or bare copper. neutral is red and hot is black (I remember it by hot can kill you so black is death) if I am not mistaken. As for a car battery i think it's the opposite red is hot and black is neutral.
