As this vehicle was only produced with an Automatic Transmission, it would be very difficult to fit a manual in this car. Not impossible but extremely difficult and costly. I would not attempt this conversion unless you have lots of money, tools, and skill.
i just put 6 ltrs of dextron 6 in my 2000 Malibu
DEXRON 3
DEFINATLY NOT! a transmission for a 2.4 was designed for a 2.4 ONLY! not only will it not fit, it will not be able to handle the power the 3.1 throws
on 3.1 it is 7qts when changing tranny filter..
Yes, and that will cause shifting issues.
kick down cable is out of adjustment from pedal to transmission.
In the side cover of the transmission, there is more than one so be careful
I have a 2000 Malibu and it does not have a tranny dipstick. You have to check fluid under car, there is a check hole on the trans. It's a pain in the butt.
If it's not leaking it doesn't need additional fluid.
Well at the caclulations of me I should say at 25 miles an hour.
usually 1200-1800 at a trans shop.Dealers are twice that.
Remove the positive battery cable from your 2000 Chevy Malibu battery. Remove the cables from the front of the starter. Remove the starter retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install your new starter.
