Trout can survive if the temperature is warm enough or the water is deep enough to prevent the water from freezing completely. A mountain trout would be a good choice;however, the same conditions would apply.

If the pond has fish in it, you should leave a hole in any ice that forms on the top of it, so that the fish can breathe. Do so by melting the ice, not breaking it, since the shock of banging on the ice with a shovel might burst the swim bladders of the fish.

Yes, Goldfish can stay out doors all winter, However you must make sure that the pond is deep enough and that there is a bubbler running to keep the ice from freezing all the way across. Goldfish and Koi fish go into hybernation in the winter. You don't feed them at all. They burrow down into the mud at the bottom of the pond and basically sleep. In the spring they wake up and will be groggy for a bit, but eventually come back to their natural state. I would call a pet store and ask for the exact specifications, as far as how deep it should be etc.

That depends upon how deep the unfrozen water beneath the ice is and how much decay there is from dead plants etc. In my youth, every week during the 'winter frosts', I used to place a saucepan filled with boiling water on our goldfish pond to melt a hole in the ice to allow the exchange of gasses. Smashing the ice would have created enough vibration to kill the fish.

Black Moors are a fancy goldfish and should be kept at around 55F to 65F. Much colder than that and they will probably get very sick. If your pond freezes over during winter, it would be a gamble if the fish would survive until spring or not.

Can you put goldfish in an above ground pool for the winter If so how do you prepare pool?

Yes, first you'll have to use water treatment chemicals(e.g. Clarifier, dechlorinator). You'll probably need a pond heater if the fish will be outside in the winter. And a pump to keep the water aerated. Hope that helped!
