Yes. In fact, it's mandatory for all first year students to live on campus.
in dorms
In the 1970's, it cost $500 per term (four terms to a calendar year) to live in one of the campus dormitories at Penn State University. That included three meals a day in the cafeteria downstairs! I'm sure it costs MUCH more than that now!
Whether or not you can live off-campus depends on your college. Some Freshman must live in the dorms. If you are allowed to live off-campus, find an apartment that is in a decent area, is affordable (check and see if utilities and such are paid for to determine this, not just rent) and consider living their with a buddy or two.
There is an online gallery of Penn State football pictures on the Penn Live website. They have a large photo gallery with over 5,300 pictures included.
Princeton University is not a commuter school. Freshmen are required to live in dorms on campus, with a few exceptions. For example, for security reasons, Imelda Marcos, daughter of the Philippine President, was permitted to live off-campus during her Freshman year.
Around $10,000 a year if you live on campus in the nicest dorms possible. That's what mine is.
No. I was originally told that every freshman has to live on campus, but once I got here, I found out that a lot of students live in apartments. The good thing about living in an apartment is that you can have a car during your freshman year. In the dorms, you can only have a car if you have a specific reason such as working at home or student teaching. Living in dorms for your first year can be beneficial because you get to meet a lot of people, and the dorms are really close to campus and all the food courts. Plus you get a lot of free things while living in the dorms. Every week, we got some sort of free food and there are ALWAYS event going on. I suggest to pick a dorm other than Meredith and Cary. They are very tiny... 17' by 9'. Living in a dorm such as Harrison or Cary gives you a lot more room. However you have to walk an extra 5 minutes for those dorms.
Penn State's nickname is the Nittany Lions. There is a range of ridges in the Appalachian Mountains not far from the Penn State campus called Nittany Mountain. There used to be mountain lions that roamed that range.
No, you do not have to but most people choose to. After freshmen year many people move into homes or apartments around campus but plenty choose to live in dorms again. Some people who live close enough even commute.

People who live on school grounds are people that live in dorms in college.
