Not eating will certainly lead to weight loss. This is often referred to as "fasting" and should only be performed under the advice of your doctor, as it can actually become quite dangerous to the unaware. Fasting is not generally employed for weight loss, but that is one ancillary benefit. Even so, fasting is a technique of healing that predates modern civilization and is found world-wide.

Trying to lose weight by not eating is not a healthy weight loss option, and does not encourage good eating choices later on.

It may be effective but due to the fact that it is hard to do and has several disadvantages to it, does not seem to work for many people. People who try to lose weight by not eating often turn to bulimia which is also very unhealthy and damaging as, with bulimia, it is coughing and regurgitating basic nutrition that your body survives on.

When trying to lose weight by not eating, you must (to receive results) not eat for the whole dietary period [or the whole purpose is defeated]. This can accumulate to be very dangerous as we humans need food to survive. Therefore, if you are deciding on losing weight by not eating, please do your due diligence and weigh out the pros and cons:

PROS

  • fast weight loss results

CONS

  • long periods of starvation
  • headaches, hunger pains and other such injuries due to malnutrition
  • an unhealthy body
  • uneven distribution of weight
  • potential depression or sudden outburst of extreme eating
  • bags, discoloring or unnatural effects to the physical appearance of the body

As you can see, the cons definitely out weigh the pros. Under my knowledge on the subject and personal concern, I would only suggest weight loss through starvation to help with health problems or any other sort of bodily functions that are accumulated appropriately with the matter. Answer: Yes, but it is highly recommended to do otherwise.

Actually, no you can gain weight if you do not eat. Your body thinks your starving and saves all your fat cells just in case a long period goes by without food, then it starts to eat the fat, but your body needs fat to keep you healthy so once all the bad fat is gone it starts to take away the good parts of your body. The best way to lose weight and stay healthy is to exercise and eat right. Even just eating right will help you. And to keep in mind, Even if your heavy the most important thing is health not how chubby you are.

Yes but there is something not really good about it.

if u really want to lose weight with not eating or eating so less, its not healthy and it actually makes your body floppy or slack. Here's why: your body needs enough protein, calcium and etc which means you need enough nutrition to stay alive and be healthy. eat, but healthy which means don't eat chocolate, ice cream, cookies, chips and etc but eat eggs, any fruits and vegetables, milk (important cause of calcium), meat and...

BUT.... Don't eat a lot like more than what you need and suppose to eat.

Exercise

if u don't exercise maybe you still could lose weight but if you want to have nice form or shape body, then you need to exercise. (daily: 30 minutes minimum)

It is doubtful. By not eating lunch you would burn off a couple of calories, but you would soon become hungry and probably give in to the temptation of fatty snacks. Also not eating makes your body go into starve mode and it produces fat to keep you warm and to give you energy. Instead eat a balanced diet of vegetables, fruits, protein and so on... you get the drift.

The disadvantage is that this is a long-term solution: you'll lose about a pound per week, and it can take months to get to your goal. And in the meantime, you're not eating much (or any) of the foods that got you in trouble in the first place, which are probably the foods you love the most.

Your describing soup. Soup can be healthy and it can also be unhealthy. It depends on what your actually eating. By blending up my cheeseburger and drinking it doesn't make my cheeseburger any less bad for me than it is. Get it? Don't waste your time and sacrifice flavor for a diet, just eat good healthy food. Everyone finds their own balance and it depends on what you like.

It can happen, but it's VERY bad for your body. If you choose to starve, it's going to wreck your body. Your body won't get the nutrients it needs, and thus, it won't be able to function properly. Also, if you do go on a diet and don't eat, after you start eating again, you'll get lots of fat. You'll get lots of fat because your body will assume that your gonna go on the diet and starve yourself again, and to get the nutrients the body needs during the starvation, they store food, which is basically fats, so that they can use it for your body during starvation. In conclusion, you can lose pounds by eating, but you'll gain it again after eating. Thus, there isn't a benefit in starving yourself.
